History
In 1910 Emil Hanson, purchased a single portrait studio in downtown
Sioux Falls, South Dakota. In 1938 Emil’s two sons, Howard and Harold, opened
an additional camera store and portrait studio under the name of Harold’s.
The business continued to grow with another retail location and a wholesale
color photofinishing lab.
Then, in the late 1960s, Howard and Harold’s sons joined the company,
and over the ensuing years six more locations were added.
Today Harold's Photo Centers includes 8 retail locations, 5 with
portrait studios and a large central processing lab. Harold’s Photo is a
four-generation family-run business that’s slated to celebrate its
100th anniversary in 2010.
